You may want to take a serious look at Measure T that will be on the ballot in Grass Valley next month. Whether you are inclined to support this measure or not, I thought it important to point out the importance of having a strong transportation network. At the foundation of economic development is a viable infrastructure, which can be translated as roads, sewer, water, power, and telecommunications. The ERC has been a strong proponent of developing each of these over the years. Reliance upon roads is fundamental to product export businesses. Product exporters (and service exporters for that matter) are known in the economic development community as producing "primary" jobs. Primary jobs are those which add value by exporting products out of the community. In the process, wealth is imported back into the community. Intuitively, product exporters require a road infrastructure that meets their shipping/receiving needs. Measure T addresses the road infrastructure needs of Grass Valley. I'll let you draw the natural conclusion on whether to support Measure T.
